Gallery of Underwater Sounds from the RTC Pier

Ship traffic in the North Bay produces a continual whine underwater.

A droning sound with a fundamental frequency near 100 Hz is the signature of the amorous midshipman.

Waves from wind or water traffic slap against the RTC seawall and often drown out everything else.

60-Hz hum is hard to keep out of an audio-frequency system. Its signature is peaks in the Fourier transform at the odd-harmonic frequencies: 60, 180, 300, 420, 540, . . . Hz.

Unidentified sounds. (We hate to admit our ignorance!)
